Designer
Kaare Klint Kaare Klint's believe was that the study of classical furniture-materials, proportions and construction made the best base for creating new designs. The design of Kaare Klint is always based on relentless research and every piece must fulfil its purpose and display materials and craftmanship of the highest quality. One of his most famous models is the "Faaborg Chair" from 1914 with clear reference to classical furniture. Later famous work by Klint is the "Red chair" from 1927, "Safari chair" from 1933 and the "Deck chair". manufactured by Rud. Rasmussen. Klint was a lecturer in furniture design at the Royal Academy of Fine Arts in Copenhagen from 1924. His is style epitomized by clean, pure lines, the best materials of his time and superb craftsmanship.
Maker
Rud. Rasmussens Snedkerier Founded by Rudolph Rasmussen in 1869, Rud. Rasmussen is today one of the oldest furniture makers in Denmark. The craftsmanship has been running in the Rasmussen family for more than 135 years, and the joinery is today led and owned by the fourth generation of the Rasmussen family. Originally the company was named Rud. Rasmussen's Oakfurniture Factory, where huge and heavy furniture was the speciality. The cooperation with the architects Kaare Klint and Mogens Koch began in the late 1920's, and has since been the hallmark of the furniture shop itself, as well as of the finest Danish furniture design. Since 1981 the showroom has developed into one of the most wide-ranging furniture exhibi-tions in Copenhagen, not only showing the products of the "house-architects" Mogens Koch and Kaare Klint, but also other top quality furniture of Danish design, e.g. Børge Mogensen, Hans J. Wegner and others.
