Designer

Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard Nielsen at Deconet

Peter Hvidt & Orla Mølgaard Nielsen Peter Hvidt (1916-1986) og Orla Mølgaard-Nielsen (1907-1993) worked together between 1944 to 1975. In 1947 they designed the "AX" chair (manufactured by Fritz Hansen) which became the major icon of their career. The chair was the first Danish chair with a seat and back made of double curved laminated wood. The seat and back could be removed and packaged separately, basically dismantling the entire chair for easy shipping. The "AX" chair was built in several different variations, with and without armrests and with reversible leather upholstery instead of the wood seat. The two architects together designed not less than 256 furniture objects. Their firm Hvidt & Mølgaard still exists.

Maker

France & Daverkosen at Deconet

France & Daverkosen France & Daverkosen, later known as France & Son was one of Denmark´s greatest makers of furniture, cooperating with several of the big names from the era when Danish design conquered the world. Originally the company got its name after Mr. France moved from the UK to Denmark and met his partner, cabinet maker Mr. Daverkosen. Later on the company became France & Son as Julian France joined in his father´s footsteps. The company was sold to Poul Cadovious in 1964 and existed under the name CADO.
