Francis Jourdain was a painter, interior desginer, furniture maker and ceramist, (son of Franz Jourdain). Pioneer of the Art Nouveaun style, his talent as a decorator can be seen in Villa Majorelle á Nancy. He has his first solo exhibition at the Gallery DRUET in 1906. 7 years later he gives up painter to become a full- time furniture- maker. In the 1930s he became involved in the French communist party. In 1938 he achieves his last project : the College de France Director's desk. |
